BWI ART

Welcome 2017 - 2018 6th Graders!  I am very excited to be back, meet you all and have you in class.  In the past you were on a rotating schedule; however, you will have art this year for seven weeks.  This will really allow us to jump in and create some wonderful art.

The art room will be setup a little differently than years past.  We are embracing the Choice-Based concept of creation and the idea that you as a student are in charge of your learning.  Each week we will be introduced to new Elements of Art and Principles of Design where students will then be asked to pick assignments from a choice board based on their understanding of a concept and their abilities.  This will enable students to  learn techniques, styles and to become familiar with the tools.  However, there will be times when students complete their work for the week and will have a chance to plan out and design their own artwork.

I am really excited to embrace this form of artmaking and look forward to the work your children create!
